D. Barton Black Associate
Barton Black is an associate practicing in the firm’s commercial and civil litigation group. Mr. Black has experience representing both businesses and individuals, as plaintiffs and defendants, in a wide range of cases, including intellectual property litigation (trademarks, copyrights, and patents), contract disputes, commercial and residential real estate, construction disputes, insurance coverage issues, and other general business matters. Additionally, Mr. Black has counseled companies on their intellectual property portfolios. Mr. Black has litigated in both state and federal courts.
Prior to joining Joyce Thrasher Kaiser & Liss, Mr. Black was an associate in the commercial litigation and insurance coverage groups in a large Atlanta law firm and was an associate in the intellectual property group of a global law firm based in Atlanta.
Mr. Black received his law degree, with honors, from the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University in 2007. While in law school, he served on the Moot Court Board, the Student Bar Association, and was a finalist in the National Moot Court Competition. Mr. Black received his bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, with honors, from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2000. Between undergraduate and law school, Mr. Black was an information technology consultant with a global accounting firm (Big Four).
Mr. Black is admitted to practice in Georgia and the United States Patent & Trademark Office.
