Kristofer R. Schleicher
Kristofer Schleicher joined the firm in an Of Counsel capacity in November 2007. His practice areas include business development, commercial litigation and business dispute resolution, governmental affairs and lobbying for regulated industries, administrative law, contracts and covenants not to compete, and corporate law. He also specializes in health care, with experience in provider liability defense, provider entity acquisitions, Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement proceedings (civil and criminal), qui tam actions, managed care contracting, insurance regulation, and the regulation and delivery of emergency medical services.
Mr. Schleicher is a graduate of Baylor University with a B.A. in Religion and an M.A. in Sociology. He was admitted as a Ph.D. candidate in Social Psychology at Emory University before enrolling as a Woodruff Scholar at the University of Georgia Law School, from which he graduated cum laude in 1990. During law school, he worked as a research assistant reviewing Uniform Commercial Code cases for Prof. Julian McDonnell and received the AmJur Award for Commercial Paper. He was also Executive Notes Editor for the Georgia Journal of International and Comparative Law and authored Transborder Abductions by American Bounty Hunters – The Jaffe Case and a New Understanding Between the United States and Canada, 20 Ga. J. Int’l & Comp. L. 489 (1990).
Following law school, he served two years as law clerk to Hon. J. Owen Forrester, United States District Court, Northern District of Georgia. He then worked four and one-half years with Johnson & Montgomery as an associate before spending eight years as a shareholder at Wagner, Johnston and Rosenthal. He joined Joyce, Thrasher & Kaiser after spending a year at the Georgia offices of Rural/Metro Corporation managing government relations and public affairs, as well as legal matters, and a year at another firm.
Mr. Schleicher is a member of the Georgia Bar and is admitted to practice in all Georgia Courts, the Federal District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, the Federal Courts of Appeals for the Eleventh and Federal Circuits, and the United States Tax Court. He is a member of the American Bar Association and the American Health Lawyers Association.
